MISSISSAUGA – Nexus Youth Services (Nexus) is thrilled to share the good news of its recent grant success! On September 9th, Eileen MacKenzie, Executive Director at The Community Foundation of Mississauga, visited Nexus Youth Centre (NYC) to present a $32,000 cheque to staff and youth.
The Foundation’s grant will ensure that NYC’s important drop-in programs will continue to be available, free of charge, to at-risk youth in the Mississauga community. These programs engage local youth in creative ways that reduce the stigma associated with mental health challenges and asking for help, while providing coping skills and information about community resources.
“The Community Foundation of Mississauga is committed to helping donors create a lasting legacy of support for high impact charitable programs in Mississauga,” said Eileen MacKenzie. “We are proud to support Nexus who has a well-earned reputation for helping youth who are experiencing emotional, social and/or behavioural difficulties to achieve their potential. Through community philanthropy, we can work together to strengthen outcomes for young people.”

Nexus is a fully accredited mental health agency that offers support services, free of charge, to youth (age 14-24) in the Region of Peel. Nexus helps more than 2,000 youth annually through its Community Counselling Program and the Nexus Youth Centre (NYC), located in the Mississauga Central Library. NYC is a fully accessible drop-in centre, providing mental health counselling services, daily activities and group programs to youth with no referral required.
