Measuring Success at Nexus Youth Services

Measuring the impact of our services is an important part of the work we do at Nexus Youth Services. This involves surveying youth who access services like Step One to Success (SOS), our single session model which allows youth to access counselling once, twice or as many times as they need to without committing to ongoing counselling.

Thirty SOS youth surveys were returned between April 1 and July 31, 2014, and we’ve created a word cloud, or “wordle”, to share with you some of the highlights from those surveys. A wordle is created from certain words that appear frequently throughout the respective commentary. As shown in this example, the more prominent words are those that were mentioned most frequently.

The wordle refers only to favourable feedback, but serves to highlight the main positive comments at a glance. For example, this particular wordle indicates that many youth feel understood, listened to, comfortable and respected when they access SOS. This is especially important for us to know because it means we’re on track for honouring our commitment to youth engagement.
